Studies with a new colorimetric test for proteinuria.

چکیده
URING THE PAST HALF CENTURY a large number of tests for the detection of protein in the urine have been described. Three of these tests have gained outstanding popularity and are widely used in clinical practice. These are the sulfosalicylic acid test, the nitric acid ring test, and the heat and acetic acid test. Because of the wide usage of these tests as a part of “routine urinalysis” there is a tendency to disregard their shortcomings, but critical consideration of the problem suggests possibilities for improvement. The present report describes a new type of test for the detection of protein in the urine and presents data on the behavior of the test.

Dye Concentrations Determination in Ternary Mixture Solution by Using Colorimetric Algorithm
This publication uses a colorimetric method based on the absorbance spectra of dye solutions to improve on Beer’s law when calculating the dye concentrations of a three-component mixture. The performance of the new method is compared with that of Beer’s law evaluated at three wavelengths, and Beer’s law evaluated at 16 wavelengths. Colorimetric method gives the best prediction of d...
متن کاملEffects of Folic Acid Supplementation on Proteinuria in Type 2 Diabetic Patients with Overt Proteinuria
Objective: An association between high homocysteine levels and proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy has been shown. On the other hand, supplementation with folic acid lowers homocysteine concentration. We have studied the effects of folic acid supplementation on proteinuria in type 2 diabetic patients with overt proteinuria. Materials and Methods: Forty five (29 men and 16 women) type 2 diabe...
متن کاملNew Enzymatic Colorimetric Method for the Quantitative Determination of Phenylalanine in Dry-Blood Spots
Phenylketonuria (PKU) is an autosomal recessive disorder, which is characterized by severe mental retardation, microcephaly and seizures. The symptoms of this disease can be prevented if detected soon after birth. Therefore, blood Phenylalanine (Phe) measurement is essential for the early diagnosis, treatment and dietary monitoring of PKU patients. The goal of this research was to introduce a r...
متن کاملQuantification of Proteinuria with Urinary Protein to Osmolality Ratios in Children
Background: The ratio of urine protein to urine osmolality has recently been suggested as an accurate method to determine proteinuria. Objective: We studied the correlation of urine protein to urine osmolality ratio with 24-hr urinary protein excretion. Methods: 150 children aged 0.11–17 years admitted to the Department of Pediatric Nephrology were included in this study. Early morning urine s...
متن کاملA New Colorimetric Azo-azomethine Probe for Fluoride Ion Detection Based on the Proton Transfer Signaling Mode: Real-life Applications
Four novel receptors were designed and synthesized for colorimetric detection of F− ions. The introduction of four electron withdrawing groups into the backbone of the receptors makes the two phenolic groups efficient hydrogen bonding sites. The binding properties of receptors with anions were examined for the first time by UV–Vis, 1H NMR and fluorescence spectroscopies. The addition of F− resu...
